The Yard Sale was a bummer although the thunderstorms did not arrive and the sun was hot and bright. One guy pulls up and asks,”Do you have any guns?” It was $15 to sign up and be part of the community sale effort, 3 dollars for pricing labels. I baked oatmeal raisin cookies and had a case of ice cold waters(2.50 for a bag of ice). Took in a total of $21. TOTAL. No kidding. Sold two sets of hand weights, The Idiot’s Guide to Spanish, a set of pens and 3 green cabbage plates. And some wax paper sandwich bags of the cookies- 2 cookies for fifty cents. Not a single piece of china left the table or any of the baskets and assorted “stuff” Boxed it all up in the driveway and drove it right to St. Raphael’s School Gym for their upcoming Flea Market at the Church Festival Thursday August 4th. They had another neighborhoods leftovers from a Saturday yard sale. A nice woman and a young man were accepting the yard sale items and I found out about it through the Highland Park Listserve email that they were be open right after the yard sales closed. Steve and the young man carried in the items that did not sell at my yard sale. When I saw it I asked if I could get my camera and take a shot for the Keep or Pitch blog. No voting today. It was Pitch Pitch Pitch. I hope they sell at their flea market for them! The photo is not all MY items! Imagine sorting through all this by August 4th!!
Things people asked for that I did not have to sell- keys & crucifixes, tools, knives, a stand mixer, a pasta machine… oh well. Got the stuff out and donated. I did bring back into the house the Royal Doulton and Wedgewood to sell on Ebay. Maybe.
Kudos to you for the great pitching effort – even if you didn’t make any money, you still accomplished some of your clutter-reduction goal. 🙂
Thanks Stef. Making progress. Slow but making it!

Oh, I would LOVE to be a volunteer in that school gym going through all those boxes!
Sorry you didn’t make a killing, but you got rid of some stuff. I made a whole $3.77, enough for a tank of gas, which was the running joke amongst my friends. “How much do you need now for that gallon, Irene?” We had more fun cracking jokes, no one cared if they made any money.
We could blog out of that gym and all that stuff for a loooong time. Years probably. Make up stories about the items.
Thanks for the good encouragement about the sales or lack thereof…..
